Friendlies

Friendly matches against local clubs are played throughout the season, at home and away.

The 2023 Summer Season was marked by at least one win, and rather more losses, but all our games were highly enjoyable.

The introduction of the ‘Spider’ competition at the start of our home games was a great success, helped to generate some income for our club, and was thoroughly enjoyed by our visitors.

(For those unfamiliar with the 'Spider', here's a short YouTube video.)

Fixtures

Lilleshall

We lost this opening match of the season (20/5) at home to Lilleshall 105-68 but everyone agreed it was a wonderful afternoon's bowling in glorious sunshine. The same can't be said of the return match (5/8) which was a victim of some rather 'variable' weather and had to be  cancelled.

St Michael's

More fantastic weather and great bowling but we lost 90-76 to St. Michael's (3/6). Well it was an improvement on the last game and these are Friendlies after all! The away leg scheduled for 15/7 and then had to be rescheduled to 2/9 due to the weather. For some reason I can't remember the score, but the tea was excellent!

Meifod

Our home game against Meifod (12/6) was interrupted by rain but all agreed that we needed the rain! We won the return leg (27/7). Thanks for your hospitality team Meifod - a very enjoyable evening of bowling.

Neuadd Bridge

Quite predictably, we lost to away to Neuadd Bridge (24/6) - they have the perennial advantage of knowing their artificial surface better than their visitors. But we took friendly revenge by beating them at the home leg (19/8). A great afternoon of bowling and a lovely game played in the right spirit.

Llansantffraid

We hosted Llansantffraid (26/6) but no one seems to be able to recall the score - I suspect that we didn't win! And, typically for this summer of rather dodgy weather, the away leg had to be called off due to rain!
