2025 Season

This section gives an overview of what we 'got up to' last season, and what potential new members may like to get involved in next season.
During the 2025 summer season we enjoyed our usual range of in-house competitions,
friendly matches against local clubs, competing as Guilsfield in the Mixed League and in competitions organised by the Montgomeryshire Bowling Association.

Pictures from our 2025 summer season are available in the Gallery.

In-House Competitions

Our in-house competitions for 2024 included:
-
In-House cup matches comprising Ladies, Men's and Mixed Singles; 2 and 4 Wood Pairs; and a Triples competition. Congratulations to all who took part and to our winners whose names have been added to the Role of Honour.
-
Our traditional Friday Evening Summer League this year won by 'Team 5' - Joyce, Rod and Harry.

Friendlies

We enjoyed Friendly matches with Lilleshall, Llansantffraid, Meifod, Neuadd Bridge and St Michael's.
-
Entry is open to all club members, regardless of ability - the objective is to take part in a friendly game.
-
The format of the match may be fours or triples - it all depends on the numbers wishing to take part. And we've been known to lend or borrow players to/from the opposition to balance the teams.
-
Afternoon matches culminate in afternoon tea (naturally).

The Mixed League
The Mixed League has been at the heart of our club since its inception. In 2024 we finished the league mid table was a great achievement for us; in 2025 we didn't fair quite so well but it was quite close at the bottom of the table.

County Competitions

We enjoyed participation in Montgomeryshire Bowling Association competitions in 2025:
-
Our Ladies once again took part in the Ladies Afternoon League. Congratulations to Guilsfield Ladies on finishing first and fifth in this year's Wednesday Afternoon League. Two teams finishing in the top half of the table is a great result!
-
The Men didn't fair quite so well in the MBA Men's League or Super 14 - bottom of the table in the League but not completely out of touch, and similarly in the Super 14. In a difficult season we managed to field a full team for every match and enjoyed our game - it's the taking part that counts!
-
Both Guilsfield teams finished mid-table in their respective sections of the Veterans League.

County Competitions

Guilsfield are affiliated to the Montgomeryshire Bowling Association and Mid Wales Women's Bowling Association enabling club members to participate as individuals in county level competitions. Congratulations to all competitors that took part.
