County Competition 2025

Wednesday Afternoon Ladies

The Montgomeryshire Ladies Bowling Association (MLBA) Wednesday Afternoon League is played on Wednesday afternoons. Matches start at 14:00 and run from the May until July.

For 2025 we entered two teams - Guilsfield and Cegidfa.

Ladies Afternoon League

Congratulations to the Guilsfield Ladies on finishing first and fifth in this year's Wednesday Afternoon League. Two teams finishing in the top half of the table is a great result!

Monty Men

The Montgomeryshire Bowling Association (MBA) Men's League is played on Thursday evenings. Matches start at 18:30 and run from May until July. For 2025 we played in MBA Division 2.

The league is played by club teams comprising 4 rinks of fours - 16 competitors per club. This year matches were played over 2 trial ends plus 18 ends.

This league 'evolves' into the "Super 14" for the second part of the season which is also played on Thursday evenings. Matches start at 18:30 and run through July and August.

The Super 14 is played by club teams comprising 1 rink of four, 2 rinks of triples and 2 rinks of pairs requiring 14 competitors per club - hence the name "Super 14". Matches are:

3 wood pairs over 18 ends
2 wood triples over 18 ends
normal (2 wood) rinks over 15 ends

to ensure that the games all finish at more or less the same time.

Scoring is 2 points per pair, triple and rink plus 2 bonus points for overall aggregate.

The Super 14 competition is divided into two sections - East and West - to reduce the amount of travelling required. Guilsfield plays in the East section.

Division 2

League Cup

In addition to the League, a subset of the teams from both Division 1 and Division 2 come together in the MBA League Cup knockout competition.

Guilsfield were drawn against Llanidloes in the first round of the League Cup played at Llanidloes on Saturday, 31st May 2025. Our campaign then went no further! 😉

Super 14

Veterans

The Montgomeryshire Bowling Association (MBA) Veteran's League is played on Tuesday afternoons and is open to men aged over 60. Matches start at 14:00 and run from April until August, with quarter / semi-finals played in September.

Matches are played by club teams of triples. Our club entered two teams under the names Guilsfield and Cegidfa. For 2025, the MBA Veteran's League was played across four sections:

Guilsfield played in Section 3
