"The Clubhouse"

Club Colours

The committee were asked, by a few of our members, if we could look at 'Club Colours' which are in keeping with the modern game.   We are now able to offer a shirt that is custom made by Full Bias in a design chosen to complement the outerwear that we already have.

The design and size chart are shown below:

We were fortunate to receive sponsorship and are able to offer an initial batch of shirts at the subsidised price of £10 each.  Those who missed the original order or who would now like a second shirt should liaise with Sarah who has a limited stock and may need to put in a second order - this is an interim arrangement only.

Going forward, apparel can be ordered from Dave Kingdon stating the name of the club and paying him directly - further details to be provided at a later date.

This is totally optional - shirts in "Club Colours" simply complement the kit available from Constructiv Clothing - though you'll agree that it does look smart as modelled by our dashing SVIBC Evening League team below:

Greenkeepers' Corner

A little insight into activities on the Green:

  1. A green planner showing what is scheduled on the Guilsfield Green each morning, afternoon and evening throughout the season.

  2. The greenkeepers' schedule of upkeep and maintenance activities.

Each presented as workbooks - updateable subject to permissions.

Classifieds

Introducing an experimental 'Classifieds' section ...

The idea is to include a section within "The Clubhouse" to be used to help move on items of bowls equipment that are no longer required or rehome items that have been left at the Club. This has been generalised as a home for Lost and Found, For Sale and Wanted  and anything - within reason - that could be written on a postcard to appear in the village shop window or as a classified advertisement in a newspaper.

To 'advertise' please submit your electronic postcard to webm.gcbc@gmail.com including:

  • The classification - For sale, Wanted, Lost, Found or anything else

  • The name of the item

  • A short description of the item

  • A price / where a lost item can be found - whatever makes sense within the context

  • Contact details

  • A picture of the item - small JPG image (optional). The picture will be cropped to a square format when posted.

There are some examples already available.

And if the idea doesn't catch on, it can be quietly dropped again ...

Photography Competition!

Or rather, an appeal for photographs for the website - with the honour of seeing your handiwork on the Home page of our website. I'm looking for:

  1. Alternative 'banner' photographs that appear on every page of the website. They should be well composed pictures of the green and/or the clubhouse - i.e. representative of the club itself. I image changing the banner photo around four times a year to be representative of the current season.

  2. Photographs for the Home page slideshow. These should reflect the 'recent' activities of the club members. Ideally, I would like to refresh the set of images on a monthly basis - so two or three new photographs each month would be good ...

Please ensure that any identifiable subjects (e.g. fellow club members) are happy to appear in the published photograph.

Entries can be submitted to webm.gcbc@gmail.com
